Abortion - #1344 - Younger Voters Trending Anti-Abortion - Hot Air

Given the centrality of abortion to the ObamaCare debate, the latest news from Gallup should have Democrats concerned about the future of their party. They spent the last few months attempting to push through Congress a mechanism that would provide federal funding of abortions, which has stalled the bill in the House and threatens to kill ObamaCare. As Democrats attempt this, the youth vote that they so assiduously courted in 2008 has grown more anti-abortion: Two important changes are apparent. One is a significant drop in the percentage of seniors saying all abortions should be illegal. This fell from 32% in the earliest years of the trend to 16% in the first half of the 1990s, but has since rebounded somewhat to 21%. Read more.....

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Bill - #1343 - How Republicans Can Stop Health Care in 3 Steps: - Big Government

The stakes in the health care debate continue to climb. For the Democrats, they truly are in between a self- imposed Barack and a hard place. If they produce a health care bill that Obama signs over the objections of the American people, they risk losing 55 or more House seats and 8-10 Senate seats. If they don’t push through a bill, they will have angered yet another part of their base. For the Republicans, any failure to demonstrate a principled resistance to the Democrats will hurt them, in the Fall, among Tea Party voters and their base. If it passes, it will do irrevocable harm to our health care system and the solvency of our government, while hurting the economy and the dollar for decades to come. Worse yet, history has shown that de-nationalizing socialized healthcare is beyond difficult. In other words, hoping for the repeal of ObamaCare is not a good option. (1) Adopt a HealthCare Covenant With America (2) Have Republican Candidates Take the HealthCare Covenant Pledge. (3) Revolutionize The Marketing/Promotion of The Covenant.   Read more.....

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Bill - #1342 -Morning Bell: Obamacare At Any Cost - Heritage Foundation

Yesterday the White House circulated a memo by pollster Joel Benenson. It was designed to create momentum for Obamacare by convincing wayward House Democrats that support for the President’s plan has been building since the State of the Union. As with everything else that comes out of the White House on health care these days, the memo is nothing but pure fantasy. This Tuesday, Gallup released its latest poll showing that by a 48%-45% margin Americans would tell their representative in Congress to vote against President Obama’s health plan. Compare that to the last time Gallup asked the question in January, Americans supported the President’s plan 49%-46%. That’s a net six point loss in support for the President’s plan since the State of the Union. That is momentum. Against Obamacare.  Read more.....

Sexual Orientation Laws- #1341 - Cuccinelli Right, Protestors Wrong... McDonnell Splits Difference - Bearing Drift

Talk about drama over literally NOTHING. Ken Cuccinelli puts a kindly written letter out to the publicly funded colleges, bringing to their attention that they have inadvertently broken state law by inserting a clause that was never passed by the Virginia Legislature. In response, the college(s) leak the letter to the press, who quickly drum up a fabricated uproar over something that has been in place for YEARS?! So the backlash swells, Cuccinelli doesn’t back down (not really sure how you can back down from the law? Going oh yeah, nevermind?) So McDonnell swoops in today, as Jason throughly reported here and issues a Governor’s directive clarifying that discrimination will not be tolerated. This placates the alleged controversy, and doesn’t cut out Cuccinelli’s knees from under him. Why?  Read more......

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Bill - #1340 - Paul Ryan: Dems Ramming "Shell" Health Care Bill Thru Committee Next Monday - Philip Klein - American Spectator

Rep. Paul Ryan says that Democrats are ready to ram a "shell" health care bill through the Budget Committee, on which he serves as ranking Republican member, to use as a vehicle to impose national health care. In a phone interview with TAS Thursday afternoon, Ryan said that he expects Democrats to begin the complex process on Monday, under which they would have the Budget Committee approve a phantom bill by midnight, which they will then send over.   Ryan said that the Senate parliamentarian's ruling that President Obama must sign a health care bill into law before the Senate can change it through reconciliation largely renders moot the attempt by Rep. Louise Slaughter to shield members from a direct vote on the Senate health care bill.o the Rules Committee. At that point, the Rules Committee will strip out all of the language in the phantom bill, and insert the changes to the Senate bill that Democrats have negotiated. "They don't have the votes right now, but they're creating the vehicle so that they can airdrop in whatever changes they want," Ryan said......Ryan said that the Senate parliamentarian's ruling that President Obama must sign a health care bill into law before the Senate can change it through reconciliation largely renders moot the attempt by Rep. Pledge of Allegiance - #1339 - Good News: "Under God" Clause in Pledge of Allegiance Once Again Constitutional in California - Hot Air

The Pledge is constitutional,” Judge Carlos Bea wrote for the majority in the 2-1 ruling. “The Pledge of Allegiance serves to unite our vast nation through the proud recitation of some of the ideals upon which our Republic was founded.” The same court ruled in Newdow’s favor in 2002 after he sued his daughter’s school district for having students recite the pledge at school.  Read more......

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Bill - #1338-Senate Parliaentarian - House Must Pass - and Obama Must Sign - Reid's Bill First - Hot Air

Allahpundit: I’ll level with you. I think this is huge, but the procedural chicanery has gotten so convoluted that I can’t be sure anymore. Could mean nothing. Or, it could be something close to Waterloo. The Senate Parliamentarian has ruled that President Barack Obama must sign Congress’ original health care reform bill before the Senate can act on a companion reconciliation package, senior GOP sources said Thursday.  The Senate Parliamentarian’s Office was responding to questions posed by the Republican leadership. The answers were provided verbally, sources said. Read more......

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1336- Is the Slaughter Amendment Constitutional? - If Pelosi Has the Votes, Why the Amendment? - Big Government

There is no chance Pelosi has the votes to pass ObamaCare and she knows it. If she did have the votes, she would have already had the vote and wouldn’t need the “Slaughter Solution.”  House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter is prepping to help usher the healthcare overhaul through the House and potentially avoid a direct vote on the Senate overhaul bill, the chairwoman said Tuesday. Slaughter is weighing preparing a rule that would consider the Senate bill passed once the House approves a corrections bill that would make changes to the Senate version. Slaughter has not taken the plan to Speaker Pelosi as Democrats await CBO scores on the corrections bill. “Once the CBO gives us the score we’ll spring right on it,” she said.  The Slaughter Solution has one very large obstacle–the Constitution Article I, Section 7–which states:  Read more......

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1335- Tom Perriello's Office: How Are Telephone Calls Tabulated Coming Into their Office? - Welborn Freedom Watch

I have just called Tom Perriello's office again today about Health care, particularly the Slaughter Amendment, as detailed in posts #1333 and #1334 below, which the aide seemed unfamiliar about the details. After some discussion, I asked how they tabulate the calls they receive, weighting the calls in the the 5th District, compared to calls within Virginia, but not his district, and those calls coming from out-of-state. He stated they are receiving about 700 calls per day, this week.  They listen to everyone who calls, but only tabulate those calls for Tom, that come from his district. He stated they are hearing that many people in the 5th District who can't get thru with help they need, because of the volume of calls from out-of-state. Note: I have been able to get thru every day that I call.  This confirms what I have been concerned about, that the time spent calling and emailing should be focused on your own Congressmen rather than out-of-state, or out of your district.  Of course,  how other Congressmen vote impacts all of us, not just the votes from our own, so the system of how calls are tabulated doesn't seem quite fair, especially with the magnitude of the votes happening now in Washington and how they will impact our financial future, our country's economy, and all of our liberties.  I welcome any information others receive after calling their Congressmen regarding Health care, and how they tabulate their calls.

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1334-House Democrats Looking at "Slaughter Solution" to Pass Obamacare Without a Vote on the Senate Bill - Washington Examiner

Would House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her fellow House Democratic leaders try to cram the Senate version of Obamacare through the House without actually having a recorded vote on the bill?  Not only is the answer yes, they would, they have figured out a way to do it, according to National Journal's Congress Daily:  "House Rules Chairwoman Louise Slaughter is prepping to help usher the healthcare overhaul through the House and potentially avoid a direct vote on the Senate overhaul bill, the chairwoman said Tuesday.  Slaughter is weighing preparing a rule that would consider the Senate bill passed once the House approves a corrections bill that would make changes to the Senate version. 'Once the CBO gives us the score, we'll spring right on it,' she said."  Read more ......  and see post below from John Boehner.    Call your Congressmen and ask about this method to pass the bill, Virginia's 5th - Tom Perriello-202-225-4711.

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1333-House Republican Leader John Boehner: Democrats Prepare "Slaughter Solution" to Ram Unpopular Health Care Takeover Through Congress Without a Vote

The twisted scheme by which Democratic leaders plan to bend the rules to ram President Obama’s massive health care legislation through Congress now has a name: the Slaughter Solution. The Slaughter Solution is a plan by Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY), the Democratic chair of the powerful House Rules Committee and a key ally of Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), to get the health care legislation through the House without an actual vote on the Senate-passed health care bill. You see, Democratic leaders currently lack the votes needed to pass the Senate health care bill through the House. Under Slaughter’s scheme, Democratic leaders will overcome this problem by simply “deeming” the Senate bill passed in the House - without an actual vote by members of the House.  Read more......  Call your congressmen and ask about this procedure, this would be unbelievable if this happens.  In Virginia's 5th - Tom Perriello-202-225-4711.

Fifth District Race - #1332 - Health Care Funny Business - Virginia's Fifth District

This information coming from Tom Perriello’s office raised quite a few questions for me. Tom’s press secretary Jessica Barba said that his office’s tally on Thursday, March 4 showed that 88% of the calls came from outside the district. Then she said “We believe that we have had more calls in support of health are from inside our own district,” said Barba. Read both those sentences again and take a moment to think about what they are saying. So Tom’s office claims that 88% of the calls on a single day came from outside the district because they are keeping records of this. But “We believe that we have had more calls in support of health are from inside our own district”. This sentence doesn’t quite read right and that’s another indicator of problems. The problem I have with it is that they ‘believe’ more calls from the district are in support of healthcare.  Read more.......  The next time you call Tom Perriello's office,  202-225-4711, ask if they are keeping a record of the calls, and try to find out what it is, and email me.....

Sexual Orientation Laws- #1331 - Gov. McDonnell Issues Executive Directive on Discrimination - Bearing Drift

Employment discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated by this Administration. The Equal Protection Clause of the United States Constitution prohibits discrimination without a rational basis against any class of persons. Discrimination based on factors such as one’s sexual orientation or parental status violates the Equal Protection Clause of the United States Constitution. Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1330- Senator Durbin: Of Course Premiums Will Still Go Up With ObamaCare - Hot Air

Not exactly a shocker, but Dick Durbin gives the nuanced explanation that they’re looking to slow down the rate of increases, not stop increases altogether. Unfortunately, that misrepresents what the CBO has already said about premiums under ObamaCare — and ignores what has already happened to premiums without it: The truth is that premiums have gone up in part because of government intervention, not despite of it. Further government intervention will make the problem worse — and the CBO agreed in November. While some would see a price decrease, it would only be those who don’t currently have insurance:  Read more......

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1329- Bart Stupak Has Problems - Real Clear Politics

Michigan Democrat Bart Stupak has problems. Big problems. Here's the situation. He and his bloc of pro-life Democrats want Stupak's pro-life language in the final health care bill. The talk of late is that this might be done by inserting the Stupak language into the reconciliation bill that is currently being negotiated. Here's how this scenario would go down: the House votes for the Senate bill, which does not have the Stupak language; then it votes for the reconciliation "fixer," which does have the Stupak language; then the Senate votes for the reconciliation fixer; in the end, the Stupak language becomes law. Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1328- Why Obama Can't Move the Health-Care Numbers-Scott Rasmussen & Doug Schoen (Dem. Pollster) - Wall Street Journal

For every voter who strongly favors the plan, two are strongly opposed. One of the more amazing aspects of the health-care debate is how steady public opinion has remained. Despite repeated and intense sales efforts by the president and his allies in Congress, most Americans consistently oppose the plan that has become the centerpiece of this legislative season. In 15 consecutive Rasmussen Reports polls conducted over the past four months, the percentage of Americans that oppose the plan has stayed between 52% and 58%. The number in favor has held steady between 38% and 44%....Polling conducted earlier this week shows that 57% of voters believe that passage of the legislation would hurt the economy, while only 25% believe it would help....People simply don't trust the official projections. People in Washington may live and die by the pronouncements of the Congressional Budget Office, but 81% of voters say it's likely the plan will end up costing more than projected. Only 10% say the official numbers are likely to be on target.  Read more.....   Fascinating article by these two pollsters, Rush referred to this article in his radio show today.

The power of media to bring back the truth as Democrats saw it in 2001.  When the truth has no foundation, this is the absence of morality and honor.  What we have now in the Democratic Party are lies and the twisting of arms, bribes, and discrediting those who are not for Health Care, see posts #1323, 1326 below.

Barack Obama - #1326 - Obama and the L Word - Reason.com

Here’s how predictable the president’s slippery relationship with the truth has become: Hours before the State of the Union address, Washington Examiner reporter Timothy P. Carney posted a “pre-emptive fact check” that, among other things, prebutted any presidential claim to have “stopped the revolving door between government and corporate lobbying.” As it happened, that night Barack Obama made an even bolder (read: less truthful) claim: that “we’ve excluded lobbyists from policymaking jobs.” Read more.......

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1323- Final Reform Push: Twisting Arms - NY Post

President Obama's attempts to ram health- care reform through an increasingly reluctant Congress are starting to resemble a really eventful episode of "The Sopranos." Whether or not you believe former Rep. Eric Massa's bizarre accusations of locker-room confrontations and conspiracies to drive him from office, there is no doubt that the Obama administration and its congressional allies are willing to use every trick in the book to get this bill passed....... Expect the tactics to get even dirtier now...... Those who support the president can expect favors. No sooner had Rep Jim Matheson (D-Utah) suggested that he might be willing to switch his vote and support the latest version of ObamaCare than his brother was nominated for a federal judgeship. But some of it is much nastier. .....Massa's story may have credibility issues, but other opponents of the bill are also starting to feel the heat. For instance, Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.), whose opposition to abortion funding has become one of the bill's biggest hurdles, is now seeing attacks on his ethics.  Read more......

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals and DC Opportunity Scholarship Program - #1322 - Morning Bell: The Up or Down Vote our Country Really Deserves - Heritage Foundation

President Barack Obama is touring the country asking for an up-or-down vote on his health care plan. Forget for a second that Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) can schedule an up-or-down vote on the Senate health care bill any time she wants, and keep in mind that while Democrats are trying to create the legislative text for President Obama’s “new” health care proposal, Senate Democrats are also pushing to include student lending provisions in the reconciliation bill. What does student lending have to do with health care you might ask? Nothing. But the Senate routinely attaches seemingly unrelated matters to must-pass legislation. That is what makes Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) refusal to honor Sen. Joe Lieberman’s (I-CT) request to offer an amendment funding the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program (DCOSP) to the American Workers, State and Business Relief Act so transparently hypocritical.  Read more........

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1320 -Sign the Petition to Stop ObamaCare - Family Research Council

As you may already know, the House of Representatives is the last line of defense to stop a government takeover of healthcare. That chamber of Congress is getting set to vote on the monstrosity that was voted out of the Senate that includes taxpayer-funded bribes to different Senators and allows for the largest expansion of government funding of abortions we have ever seen.We have already gathered nearly 160,000 signatures of Americans opposed to the government funding of abortion in the health care takeover, but we need your help before the fight is over for good! We will deliver the petitions to pro-life Democrats and the Republican Leadership to remind them to stand firm for the principles we all believe in. The only pro-life vote is NO to the current health care legislation soon to be up in the House of Representatives.

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1319 - Morning Bell: Dead Legislation Walking - Heritage Foundation

..... First in Glenside, President Barack Obama turned up the volume on his already tired “final push” for health care reform. In addition to the usual litany of false claims about the legislation in Congress (in fact, you don’t get to keep your doctor, it isn’t paid for, it doesn’t reduce costs) President Obama also repeated his new line from his doctors-in-lab-coats address last week: We have now incorporated almost every single serious idea from across the political spectrum about how to contain the rising cost of health care … Our cost-cutting measures mirror most of the proposals in the current Senate bill… But, as we pointed out last week, there is one not-so-minor difference between the Senate bill and the President’s new proposal: the Senate bill actually exists. Now, Democrats may be telling their conservative counterparts that they will have reconciliation legislative text in front of the Budget Committee by tomorrow, but don’t hold your breath.   The President can travel the country talking about an up-or-down vote for “our proposal” all he wants, but the reality is he simply doesn’t have the votes in the House for the only piece of health care legislation that actually exists.  Read more.....

Clark provided the cash-strapped Massa critical PAC support, nutroots help, and funding for Massa’s congressional bid. Gen. U.S. Public Lands - #1316 - Drug Gangs Taking Over US Public Lands - Denver Channel

Not far from Yosemite's waterfalls and in the middle of California's redwood forests, Mexican drug gangs are quietly commandeering U.S. public land to grow millions of marijuana plants and using smuggled immigrants to cultivate them. Pot has been grown on public lands for decades, but Mexican traffickers have taken it to a whole new level: using armed guards and trip wires to safeguard sprawling plots that in some cases contain tens of thousands of plants offering a potential yield of more than 30 tons of pot a year.  Read more......

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1315 - Changes in ObamaCare Will Require Businesses to Count Part-Time Workers for Coverage Penalties - Hot Air

Much of the focus on the stalled ObamaCare effort comes from the opposition of Blue Dog Democrats to the removal of the Stupak amendment in the Senate bill, allowing for federal abortion funding if Congress fails to renew the Hyde Amendment. The rest of the attention has gone to the changes being made in a parallel bill, one that the Senate will use reconciliation to pass to resolve disputes between the House and Senate over taxation and budgeting. A Democratic aide says a new provision in the health care bill will require businesses to count part-time workers when calculating penalties for failing to provide coverage. The bill originally passed by the Senate only penalized businesses for full-time workers who weren’t covered. The Senate bill is being used as the basis for a final package President Barack Obama wants Congress to pass in the next few weeks.  Read more........

NOAA Fishing Regulations - #1314- New Obama Rules May Prohibit Citizens from Fishing Nation's Oceans, Coastal Areas, Great Lakes, and Even Inland Waters - ESPN Outdoors

The Obama administration will accept no more public input for a federal strategy that could prohibit U.S. citizens from fishing the nation's oceans, coastal areas, Great Lakes, and even inland waters. This announcement comes at the time when the situation supposedly still is "fluid" and the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force still hasn't issued its final report on zoning uses of these waters. That's a disappointment, but not really a surprise for fishing industry insiders who have negotiated for months with officials at the Council on Environmental Quality and bureaucrats on the task force. These angling advocates have come to suspect that public input into the process was a charade from the beginning...last paragraph...."With what's being created, the same principles could apply inland as apply to the oceans," he said. "Under the guise of 'marine spatial planning' entire watersheds could be shut down, even 2,000 miles up a river drainage from the ocean. "Every angler needs to be aware because if it's not happening in your backyard today or tomorrow, it will be eventually. "We have one of the largest voting blocks in the country and we need to use it. We must not sit idly by."

Gov. Bob McDonnell - #1313 - Editorial: Tough, Responsible Choices Set Stage for Recovery - Richmond Times-Dispatch

Virginians need more good jobs. In this uniquely difficult economy, a top priority of government must be strengthening the free enterprise system and helping the private sector create jobs to get our economy back on track. This has been the focus of much of our efforts since taking office.  We have seen in Congress what happens when our leaders do not focus on economic growth, competitiveness, and job creation. They get pulled into partisan fights over other issues. Some of their actions have a negative impact on the capital markets, captains of industry, small business entrepreneurs, and consumers upon whom job creation depends. Read more......

Planned Parenthood - #1312 - Democrat Controlled Senate Transportation Committee Kills Planned Parenthood License Plate Bill - Family Foundation

We’re all familiar with the Planned Parenthood license plate bill by now (HB 1108). Patroned byDelegate Bob Brink (D-48, Arlington), the bill would allow the abortion provider its own plate with slogan (”Trust Women, Respect Choice”). Money from its sales was designated to go to the coffers of the partisan political organization. However, the House of Delegates accepted a floor amendment by Todd Gilbert (R-15, Shenandoah) to redirect the money instead to the Virginia Pregnant Women Support Fund. This amended bill was what was before the Transportation Committee.  Thinking they had the votes, Chairman Miller proceeded with a vote on the amended bill — but it went down, 7-6! Now, not only is there no funding, there’s no plate! The entire bill is . . . dead!   Read more how this happened.....

Sexual Orientation Laws- #1311 - Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli Follows Law, Liberals Rip Him Anyway - Family Foundation

Late last week, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli sent a letter to the state’s taxpayer funded colleges and universities informing them that, without General Assembly approval, they do not have the authority to issue non-discrimination policies that include sexual orientation (see Washington Post). Apparently, the state’s public colleges and universities had issued such policies without the approval to do so (see Richmond Times-Dispatch). His opinion, initiated at the request of several interested parties, started a media firestorm. Essentially, the Attorney General, the office designated to instruct state entities on the law, told them to actually follow the law — Virginia law does not carve out discrimination protections for homosexuals, as it does for race, color, creed and national origin. Read more......   Update! Earlier today I told you about the potential for SB 66, a bill adding sexual orientation to the state’s non-discrimination policy, to be brought up in the House General Laws committee despite the bill’s defeat in subcommittee. A few moments ago it was announced that the committee will not be meeting. Because today is the last day for committee action, the bill is dead.

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1310 - Rep. Massa Alleges Emanuel Forced Resignation Over Health Care Vote - Newsmax

New York Rep. Eric Massa is blaming his resignation on a conspiracy led by White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and House Democratic leaders to force him out before a crucial vote on healthcare. Massa was one of 39 Democrats who voted against an earlier House version of the healthcare bill in November. Democratic leaders will "stop at nothing" to advance the healthcare overhaul, he said. He also had some choice words for Emanuel during a recent radio interview in which he called the top Obama adviser "the son of the devil's spawn.""He is an individual who would sell his mother to get a vote. He would strap his children to the front end of a steam locomotive," Massa said of Emanuel's desire to lock up vital votes on healthcare reform.  Read more.......  See Post #1305 for audio.

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1309 - ObamaCare : Making Life Difficult - Family Research Council

How does President Obama celebrate "International Women's Day?" By leading the effort to pass the most pro-abortion health care plan in U.S. history. With billions set aside for groups like Planned Parenthood, the President's latest bill would trick Americans into funding a procedure that victimizes women and robs them of the physical and mental well-being this legislation promised to advance. Even today, as the abortion industry makes room for a massive influx of federal dollars, the Left's leadership still refuses to admit that such a deal exists. As it has in the past, FRC Action compiled a list of eight new reasons why abortion is included in President's plan.... 1. The legislation specifically includes it:  1. The legislation specifically includes it. 2. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said it is. 3. Senate Democrats refused to ban it. 4. House pro-life Democrats, even those who support the so-called reform effort, say it is. 5. House pro-abortion Democrats say it is. 6. The abortion industry sent out alerts in favor of it. 7. Candidate Obama said it would be included, and the Obama administration includes it in its definition of reproductive health care. 8. Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1308 - Medicare Part B - Therapy Caps: A Preview of Life Under Obamacare - American Thinker

Many Americans are justifiably leery about health care reform, fearing that reforms will lead to arbitrary government rationing of health care, denial of services, and choice taken from consumers and placed under government control. What many Americans may not know, however, is that we don't have to wait for Obamacare to experience these effects. These conditions hang over the lives of the institutionalized elderly due to Medicare Part B therapy caps.....For consumers seeking a sneak-peek into what life under Obamacare may resemble, careful study of the Part B therapy caps is essential. Increased unemployment of health care workers, decreased functional results, and rationing of care are three potential outcomes under both scenarios. Read more.......

Fall 2010 Elections - #1307 - Texas-Sized Lesson: The New Tone Era is Over - American Thinker

While the ever-helpful Jurassic media is trying to force-feed conservatives and Republicans groupthink analysis of Rick Perry's thumping of Kay Bailey Hutchison (KBH), the GOP had better heed the main lesson: The "new tone" era is over. KBH's incompetent primary campaign was itself a caricature of the senior senator -- and it was precisely that caricature that her opponents wanted to portray. Perry and Tea Party candidate Debra Medina did not have to do much but get out of the way and let the KBH campaign prove that the senior senator and her top advisers were indeed all creatures of Washington who are hopelessly out of touch.  Predictably, the results were disastrous for Hutchison. Perry defeated her 52%-31%, with Medina getting 17% of the vote.  Read more.......

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1306 - Will Obama Stab House Dems in the Back on Obama Care - Wall Street Journal

Last week President Obama sanctioned "reconciliation," a complex tactic that would jam ObamaCare into law on sheer power politics. But what if this gambit is really a false-flag operation, meant to lure House Democrats into voting for a bill that they would otherwise oppose? That's the question many rank-and-file Members are now asking themselves, and they're right to be worried. The cleanest option for Democrats would be for the House to pass the Senate's Christmas Eve bill word for word, thereby bypassing a Senate filibuster under the normal rules and forwarding ObamaCare directly to the Rose Garden signing ceremony. But Speaker Nancy Pelosi has repeatedly said the votes simply don't exist for the Senate bill as is. Mass as detailed below.

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1305 - Congressman Massa: Democrats Railroaded Me Because I Opposed Obama Care Bills - Audio Added - Hot Air

When allegations of sexual harrassment involving Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) arose last week, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer claimed that he warned Massa’s office to forward them to the House Ethics Committee or he would do it himself, and that they duly complied. In an interview yesterday, Massa — who will resign from office today — claimed that Hoyer lied, and that he first heard of the allegations after Hoyer went public with them. Massa accused Democratic Party leadership and the White House of railroading him in order to get him out of the way of ObamaCare: Read more...... Listen to this audio, it will confirm everything you thought was happening behind the scenes to get the Health Care Bill passed, the least we can do is to keep calling our Congressmen.  In Virginia: Jim Webb: 202-224-4024, Mark Warner: 202-224-2023, Tom Perriello: 202-225-4711.

Senate, House and Obama's Health Care Proposals - #1304 -Guess Who's Coming to Your House - American Thinker

It's all supposed to be voluntary, those "home visits" that are tucked into the mammoth Obamacare bill. If you have a strong stomach, and a stronger bottom, you can find home visitation on pages 568-595. That's Section 2951 of H.R. 3590, the Senate bill that Harry Reid brought down the chimney on Christmas Eve. All voluntary, they say, but once you "volunteer" to have the oh-so-helpful folks from Social Services come in to help with your newborns, or with a number of other specified issues, will you ever be able to get rid of them.
Families where Mom is not yet 21. (No mention here whether she is married or not.)
Families where someone is a tobacco user. (Does this include the White House? Watch out, Sasha and Malia! Does Grandpa, whom you love and have taken in, enjoy his after-dinner pipe?)
Families where children have low student achievement, developmental delays, or disabilities.
As if that list were not wide-ranging enough, here's the net that can encompass tens of millions:
Families with individuals who are serving or formerly served in the armed forces, including such families that have members of the armed forces who have had multiple deployments outside the United States.  Read more......
